This Privacy Policy explains how Avikism ("the app"), published by KULMONI PAL ("we", "us" or "our"), handles information when you use the app. Avikism is an informational digital archive featuring the works, writing, academic interests and photography of Avik Gangopadhyay.
1. Information we collect
Avikism does not ask you to create an account and does not intentionally collect your name, email address, telephone number, contacts, precise location, photos, microphone recordings, payment information or other user-submitted personal information.
The app retrieves published content, including text, images and video references, from our Firebase backend. This content is provided for display and is not submitted by the user through the app.
2. Information stored on your device
To remember your experience and load previously viewed content more quickly, the app may store the following locally on your device:
- Your light or dark theme preference.
- Recently retrieved public archive content and a timestamp used for a short cache.
This local cache is not used to identify you and can normally be removed by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app.
3. Firebase and service providers
The app uses Google Firebase services, including Firebase Firestore and Firebase Storage, to retrieve public archive content and media. Requests may be processed by Google on our behalf. Firebase may process technical information such as an IP address, device or browser information, request time and diagnostic information as part of providing and securing its services.
We do not use Firebase Authentication, advertising SDKs, in-app payments or a user account system in the current version of the app. Review Google's policies for details about its processing: Firebase privacy information.
4. How we use information
Information handled by the app is used to provide, maintain, secure and improve the archive experience, deliver public content, remember the display preference you selected and diagnose technical failures. We do not sell personal information and we do not use information for targeted advertising.
5. Data sharing and retention
We do not share personal information for sale or marketing. Public content requests are sent to the Firebase services described above. Local cached content remains on your device until it expires, is replaced, or you clear the app data. Technical records retained by service providers are handled under their own retention practices and applicable law.
6. Children's privacy
Avikism is a general-audience informational archive. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
7. Your choices and rights
You may stop using the app, clear its local data, or uninstall it at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct or delete personal information held about you. Contact us using the details below to make a request. We may need enough information to verify and respond to the request.
8. Security
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the nature of the service. No internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy when the app, services or legal requirements change. The updated version will show a new effective date. Continued use of the app after an update means the updated Policy applies from its effective date.
